Hi All
Does anyone know if it makes any difference if I fiberglass the inside of the hull before the outside. The reason for this is I had a slight accident cutting the bottom and I expect I will have to do a bit more rounding of the bottom on the outside than normal. Not a huge amount but I'm worried it might slightly weaken the bottom while I'm working and possibly warp the boat. Also It is not easy for me to turn the boat over while my Sweety is away. A second question. Does anyone know how far forward the mast has to go for a passagemaker type rig to be balanced? I'm thinking that while everything is open it would be easy to add a second mast step and reinforcement (or even a sort of enclosed box to allow for the mast and still have a watertight compartment) so that IF I want to change the rig its just a matter of cutting open the second mast spot. I made my mast a bit stronger than designed so it could take more strain. Thanks Christine www.christinedemerchant.com/skerry.html |

I can't think of any big reason to FG the outside first.
Since the passage maker rig includes a jib, it seems to me that the mast would have to move aft instead of forward, but I really don't know anything about it. Setting up for both rigs sounds like a neat idea though. |
