Hi Folks! I'm concerned about aligning the daggerboard slots from the seat to the bottom.
Any hints?
Thank you all for the information I gathered on this site your boats look great.

On the bottom, draw a line that "connects the the dots" between the screws that went into the spacers on the daggerboard trunk, drill a small hole in the *middle* of that line (so it will be sure to come up on the inside of the trunk) and then enlarge it with your tools of choice (router, bonsai saw, etc.) until you find the inside edges of the daggerboard trunk.

On the seat -- the easiest way is to drill a small pilot hole in the middle of the seat BEFORE you attach it (that way you can be sure that it will be somewhere in the middle of the slot--trace the outline of the trunk on the underside of seat, use that as a guide to drill the hole, then attach the seat).... if not, find the centerline, and drill a small hole in the middle, and enlarge it until you find the inside edge of the slot. If you're wondering whether your tiny hole actually hit the inside of the slot, shine a light up from the slot below... (and, if you happen to "miss", filling a *small* drill hole is much less noticible than filling a BIG one.)

Thanks Julie!
I now have two small holes in the seat and two 1/2inch holes in the bottom. I flipped the boat over last night. The holes on the bottom are drilled on the centerline of the bottom panel, bow to stern. They fell close to (actually one tangent to) the starboard innerside of the daggerboard trunk. Since the trunk is alined within 1/16 inch of center, and square to the bottom panel, that's what I'm going to use to align top to bottom. Close enough!
In days of old, I suppose 1/16 of an inch was real accurate in building a wooden boat.
Tonight I sand, tomorrow I paint. I hope to be in the water in three weeks.
