This book is excellent on a couple of levels.
First, it's a book about sailing. Bode reflects on his past sailing experiences and describes them in a manner that anyone who has sailed can appreciate. Ask a sailor why he/she loves to sail and they will probably find it hard to articulate. Give them this book, and when their done they'll be nodding their head and saying, "...that's why". Second, Bode uses sailing as a metaphor for life. I wouldn't categorize this as a self-help book, but it does present lessons. However, Bode does so in such an effective and subtle manner, that the reader can't help but appreciate the message. Finally, it's just good reading that sailors and non-sailors alike will enjoy.
