This is the first digital camera that I've owned and I don't have much experience with other camera's. That said, I really like the A70.

One of the reasons I chose the A70 was because of the reviews it was getting for picture quality. Canon has used quality lenses for this camera that the others in the same class don't seem to have.

Second, the A70 has more manual features than the others in it's class. Sometimes point-and-shoot is not enough to get a good picture. The features for the A70 allows me to get creative. The features are not hard to figure out, either.

The size of the A70, while not being the smallest, is small enough to take on extended hikes, paddles, etc.

The zoom is 3x optical and just under 10x digital. The digital zoom is definately not has "crisp" as the optical. However, another reason I chose the A70 is that you can get a zoom lens for it (as well as a macro lens).

Another addition you get get is a completely waterproof casing for the camera, which even allows the camera to be taken underwater. And here's the kicker... the camera is fully functional while in the case

Many of the pics in the "Scrapbook" page were taken with my A70.

I got the camera for Julie for Christmas and have had alot of fun with it. The only thing I dont like about it is the amount of time between my finger depressing the "shoot" button and the flash going off. It doesn't actually capture the exact moment you want it to. Other than that it is great. I think thats how most digitals are though...theres my 2 cents.

I never really thought about that, but now that you mention it... there is a delay. I wonder if that IS true for all digitals.
